Heather Devers
Lead Interior Designer
After more than two decades in creative industries, Heather Devers decided it was time to invest in the passion that had quietly shaped her career all along: interior design. From journalism and magazine publishing to fashion styling, every chapter of her professional journey ultimately led her toward creating beautiful, functional spaces.
When Heather decided to pursue interior design full-time, she knew she wanted a formal education that would prepare her for the profession. Heritage School of Interior Design Dallas offered the accelerated, immersive experience she was looking for.
"I knew that if I was going to move forward with interior design, I wanted an education. I also knew we would be moving to Colorado the following summer, so I needed a program that was both accelerated and immersive."
Returning to school after more than 20 years was no small decision. As the mother of two young children, a full-time student, and someone preparing for a cross-country move, Heather quickly realized the program would challenge her in entirely new ways.
Rather than simply earning a credential, she fully committed herself to mastering the profession.
"This wasn't just a program that I was taking to check a box. This was going to be my new career, so I wanted to absorb every morsel of knowledge that I could."
Today, Heather credits her education at Heritage Dallas with providing the technical foundation she relies on every day.
"From construction and building design to communicating with contractors and reading floor plans, I can honestly say I would be lost without the knowledge I gained at HSID Dallas."
Shortly after graduating, Heather joined the boutique residential design firm Alexa Interiors as a Lead Designer. After presenting her portfolio during the interview, she was hired the very same day and attended a new client meeting that afternoon.
Heather believes Heritage Dallas gave her both the technical expertise and professional confidence to pursue a leadership position early in her career.
Heather looks forward to continuing her growth as a designer while expanding her expertise in both residential and commercial interiors. Her long-term goal is to become a seasoned design professional whose knowledge continues to grow through experience, creativity, and lifelong learning.
For Heather, the Heritage Dallas experience comes down to three words:
Intense. Transformative. Inspiring.
"I would have never had the confidence to apply for the position of Lead Designer without my education at HSID Dallas. With my Master's Certificate in my corner, I applied, and now I have my dream job."
